A Reinforced Concrete Gulley Staircase, the 'Gulley' was to allow water collected by the 'Landing' above the staircase to flow down the steps and run down the 'Gullies'. Reducing slip-hazards in freezing/ wet conditions. Al the 'Under-Carriage' was not left in-situ but removed via a small opening in the brick wall. The stairs were insulated by thermal insulation, to help maintain its heat. As a space saving idea from the architect, storage cupbaoards/ drawers were to be installed under the staircase.
